Using a special variety of Kelp, Fucus vesiculosus, which is a rich source of minerals, trace elements and organic fibres, this supplement makes a great nutritional supplement and also promotes coat growth and helps to maintain good pigmentation, especially through the winter.
The kelp used is harvested from sustainable deep sea sources and its British Herbal Pharmacopoeia status shows it contains no heavy metals or contaminants. For a higher strength preparation try our Kelp Seaweed Tablets which also contain concentrated kelp extract.

What causes pigmentation loss?
A drop in pigmentation may occur on the nose, eyes and mouth during the winter months and also in bitches following a season or pregnancy. This fading is generally considered to be due to a shortage of minerals, particularly iodine and iron.
How does Kelp Seaweed Powder help?
Seaweeds are a rich source of iodine, although some seaweeds contain much more than others, so giving the correct one is essential for maximum effect. The seaweed we use in our products is pharmaceutical grade Fucus vesiculosus which has a very high mineral content, providing a particularly high amount of iodine and iron to help maintain strong pigment.

It is necessary to give Kelp Seaweed Powder for a minimum of one month to enhance pigmentation that has been lost, although it may take two or more months for it to be completely restored.
For pets that have already experienced pigment loss, many owners have found that using Elderberry & Nettle Extract initially to regain the pigment is best, before swapping to our Kelp Seaweed Powder to maintain the pigment.
